A cinematic 3D story to bring wood back to life
THE IDEA
To launch Amonn’s new range of wood protection products, the campaign was built around an iconic character: Pinocchio.
Before entering production, extensive copyright research ensured that the character was developed exclusively from Carlo Collodi’s original tale, deliberately distancing the project from later cinematic interpretations.
PROJECT
Amonn Color develops products dedicated to the protection and care of wood, combining long-standing expertise with a constant focus on innovation. For the launch of Amonn Cloe, high-quality natural wood varnish, the communication was built around a simple parallel: Amonn products restore and enhance wood, just as Pinocchio’s story is rooted in the transformation of wood into life.
DESIGN AND VISUAL
LANGUAGE
Pinocchio and Geppetto were designed and modelled entirely from scratch, creating an original interpretation rooted in Collodi’s imaginary. Warm, atmospheric lighting, tactile materials and carefully crafted environments give the film its cinematic character, while the realistic rendering of wood becomes a central part of the storytelling.
The product transformation itself was treated visually as part of the narrative, making the difference between untreated and restored wood immediately tangible.
3D PRODUCTION
AND DEVELOPMENT
The film was entirely produced in 3D CGI, following a workflow inspired by traditional animation production. Character design was followed by a scene-by-scene storyboard and a low-poly animatic used to define timing, camera movements and composition.
Each production stage was progressively refined and approved, before moving into final editing, sound design and color correction.
By placing a woodcare product in the hands of a character who is himself made of wood, the campaign transforms a functional benefit into an emotional story. Product, character and message become part of the same narrative, moving the communication beyond a traditional product demonstration.
